KCCF Intern and Team Takes First in National Social Entrepreneurship Competition

We are so proud of Knapp Community Care Foundation intern Josiah Gonzalez, whose Enactus chapter won first place in the prestigious national competition –Enactus National Expo – that took place in Austin, Texas, in May. With their project and presentation, they represented our beloved Rio Grande Valley. As a result of their win at the national expo, Josiah and his Enactus team will represent the United States in the global competition in Kazakhstan taking place in early October of this year.

Enactus is an international organization that hosts an international social entrepreneurship project competition for university students in 33 countries. Josiah's is part of the UT-RGV Enactus chapter.

Josiah and his team presented their Financial Literacy and S.O.A.R. projects that they have been working on since 2020. In partnership with Wells Fargo and State Farm, their Financial Literacy project educated the community on basic financial topics. This project was created to combat the stigma that discussing finances in Hispanic communities is perceived as taboo. For their S.O.A.R. project, the team partnered with TEAM Mario, Texas Workforce Solutions, and UTRGV's Office for Sustainability to educate young adults with autism spectrum disorder about job readiness skills to help them gain internships or jobs after the program.

After their win, Josiah and his Enactus team traveled to Chicago, Illinois, and were generously given a tour of the Northern Trust head office in Chicago. Northern Trust serves as Knapp Community Care Foundation's wealth management firm. They met to discuss Northern Trust's work and its focus on the community.
